Key takeaways
- As of November 4, 2026, ManyChat has five plans: Free at $0, Essential at $17 a month, Pro at $39, Business at $99 and Advanced at $199, or $14, $29, $69 and $139 a month billed annually.
- Each plan includes a monthly number of active contacts, from 25 on Free to 25,000 on Advanced, and every extra contact is billed: $0.10 on Essential, $0.05 on Pro and $0.025 on Business with monthly billing.
- WhatsApp, SMS and email are not available on Free or Essential: Pro is the first plan that can connect WhatsApp, as one of its 3 channels.
- WhatsApp messages are paid from a prepaid Wallet at ManyChat's per-message rates ($0.0730 for a UK marketing message), and SMS is billed by Twilio, not by ManyChat.
ManyChat pricing starts with a Free plan at $0 for 25 active contacts a month, then Essential at $17 a month, Pro at $39, Business at $99 and Advanced at $199 on monthly billing, or $14, $29, $69 and $139 a month billed annually, according to ManyChat's pricing page as of November 4, 2026. The price follows the number of people you interact with each month, and WhatsApp, SMS and email only become available from the Pro plan.
This guide reads ManyChat's pricing page, its Help Center and its WhatsApp pricing guide as they stood on November 4, 2026, with the US prices in US dollars. It is written for online stores weighing ManyChat for Instagram DMs and WhatsApp: what each plan includes, which plan WhatsApp needs, what makes the bill grow, and what is billed outside the subscription.

Source: plan cards and comparison table on the ManyChat pricing page, read on November 4, 2026 with the page set for the United States. The page states that prices do not include tax, that the price is determined by the user's billing country, and that the final price is shown on the purchase page before payment.
What the plan cards list beyond these numbers:
- Free: the automation builder and templates with up to 4 live triggers, a basic inbox, and "Powered by Manychat" text the first time you message a contact.
- Essential: unlimited automations, data collection and tags, an inbox organizer with scheduled messages, email support, and no ManyChat branding.
- Pro: broadcasts, AI-powered conversations, Manychat AI, Inbox AI with custom labels, and integrations.
- Business and Advanced: a multi-user inbox where conversations can be assigned to team members, automation insights and recommendations, and priority support.
This price list belongs to a model ManyChat introduced on March 2, 2026. It applies by default to accounts created on or after that date, and ManyChat says it is opening it to older accounts gradually, country by country, with an email to each account when it can switch. Until then, an older account stays on the earlier Pro plan, whose price, according to the Help Center, scales with the total number of contacts.
Which ManyChat plan do you need for WhatsApp?
Pro, at least. ManyChat's Help Center states that WhatsApp, SMS and email are not available on the Free plan or the Essential plan. Their 2 channels are chosen among Instagram, TikTok, Facebook Messenger and Telegram.
| Plan | Channels you can connect | |
|---|---|---|
| Free | Any 2 of Instagram, TikTok, Messenger, Telegram | Not available |
| Essential | Any 2 of Instagram, TikTok, Messenger, Telegram | Not available |
| Pro | Any 3 of Instagram, TikTok, Messenger, WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS, email | Available as one of the 3 |
| Business | All channels | Available |
| Advanced | All channels | Available |
Sources: ManyChat pricing page and Help Center articles on the Pro plan and the Business plan, read on November 4, 2026.
The Pro plan article adds WhatsApp broadcasts and automations to the plan, and presents Pro as the right starting point when WhatsApp is already a key channel for a business. For a store that wants Instagram, WhatsApp and email together, Pro's 3 channels are all used; a fourth channel means Business.
On integrations, the comparison table lists Google Sheets on Essential, and from Pro: Zapier, Make and API access, HubSpot and Klaviyo, Twilio, Flodesk, Mailchimp, Kit and ActiveCampaign, Hotmart for commerce, and Stripe and PayPal for payments. ManyChat's integrations page does not list Shopify as of November 4, 2026; it points to Zapier, Make and its API for tools it does not list.
What is an active contact?
The plan limit counts active contacts. ManyChat's pricing page defines one as "a real person you interact with during a monthly billing period", and its Help Center gives the rules that follow from it:
- One person counts once a month. Several messages from the same person in the same billing month still make one active contact.
- Messages in both directions count. A contact becomes active when messages are sent or received through ManyChat: automations, AI, broadcasts or the inbox. Every customer who receives a WhatsApp broadcast that month counts.
- Your follower count is not your contact count. A contact is someone who sent a DM, commented, replied to a story or engaged with an automation, or who was added by import or API.
- Inactive contacts stay stored. People who do not interact in a given month remain in your list and do not count that month.
- The count resets every billing cycle, including on annual plans.
- Imported contacts count only when messaged through an automation, AI, a broadcast or live chat.
- Deleting contacts does not lower the bill. ManyChat's post on its new pricing says deleting contacts does not reduce the current month's count, since it is based on who you engaged with.
- One person on two channels can count twice, depending on how the accounts are connected. ManyChat may merge them when the same phone number or email address is used.
You can follow the count in the Insights section of the dashboard.
What happens when you go over the limit?
Automations keep running, and an overage fee applies to each additional active contact:
Source: comparison table on the ManyChat pricing page. The rates shown match the page as read on November 4, 2026.
| Plan | Per additional active contact, monthly billing | Per additional active contact, annual billing |
|---|---|---|
| Free | Not available | Not available |
| Essential | $0.10 | $0.082 |
| Pro | $0.05 | $0.038 |
| Business | $0.025 | $0.018 |
| Advanced | $0.004 | $0.0028 |
Source: ManyChat pricing page, read on November 4, 2026. ManyChat's Advanced plan article adds "or less with higher usage" to both Advanced rates.
The Help Center describes the controls around the overage:
- Alerts by email and in the platform at 70%, 90% and 100% of your limit.
- Billing: overage fees are added to your next bill, monthly, even on an annual plan.
- A cap you choose: in Settings, Billing, Subscription, "Set your contact limit" decides whether overages are allowed and how many extra contacts you accept to pay for. Once the cap is reached, automations keep running only for contacts already active that billing cycle.
- Upgrading mid-month: if you upgrade within the same billing cycle, the pricing page says the overage fees incurred so far are forgiven and the extra contacts count toward the new plan.
- Far above the cap: the Help Center warns that automations may eventually pause if an account keeps growing well beyond its plan's maximum without upgrading.
What do AI, seats and users cost?
- Manychat AI appears on the Pro, Business and Advanced cards, with no separate price on the pricing page on November 4, 2026. The comparison table lists AI Goals, AI Comments, AI Replies, Knowledge and the AI Step from Pro, plus ChatGPT, Claude and DeepSeek integrations with API access.
- Users: 1 on Free, 2 on Essential, 3 on Pro, 5 on Business and 10 on Advanced, inbox seats included.
- Inbox seats: 1, 1, 2, 3 and 5 are included. An additional seat costs $25 on Pro, Business and Advanced, up to a total of 3, 5 and 10 seats. Free and Essential cannot add seats.
What changes between monthly and annual billing?
Annual billing lowers the monthly equivalent by 18% on Essential, 25% on Pro and 30% on Business and Advanced, according to the pricing page, and it lowers the overage rates in the table above. The pricing FAQ sets the terms:
- Active contacts are still counted monthly, and overages are billed monthly.
- Upgrades start a new billing period immediately, and the unused part of the current plan is prorated and credited.
- Downgrades wait. On a monthly plan, a downgrade takes effect at the next billing period. An annual plan cannot be downgraded, or switched to monthly, until the annual term ends. A monthly plan can switch to annual at any time.
- Trials and refunds. Essential and Pro can be tried free for 14 days; the Business plan article states there is no free trial on Business. ManyChat says you can cancel and get a refund if it has been under 30 days since you bought your plan.
- No card for Free. The Free plan does not require a credit card; paid plans do.
What is not included in a ManyChat plan?
The subscription covers the platform. Emails and WhatsApp template messages are paid from the ManyChat Wallet, a prepaid balance described in the Help Center. Auto-refill is off by default, and automations that send these messages pause when the balance falls below the cost of a single message.
WhatsApp. ManyChat's WhatsApp pricing guide charges each template message delivered, at a rate set by the template category and the country code of the recipient's number. Since October 1, 2026, service messages (non-template replies sent while the customer service window is open) are charged too, after 1,000 free service messages per WhatsApp Business phone number each calendar month. Messages your customers send you are free, and so are messages delivered during an open free entry point window.

On these lines, ManyChat's marketing and utility rates are about 15% above Meta's list rates, and its service rates are the same. The guide also recalls that Meta has paused marketing template messages to users in the United States since April 1, 2025, and ManyChat's article on the pause, updated October 30, 2026, gives no date for its end. Our article on WhatsApp marketing in the USA covers what still reaches US customers.
Email. The comparison table lists up to 10k emails on Pro, 30k on Business and 100k on Advanced. The Wallet article says emails beyond the free allowance cost $0.003 each from the Wallet balance.
SMS. SMS runs through a Twilio account you connect, and ManyChat's SMS article states that Twilio, not ManyChat, handles the cost of sending them. The same article notes that a text block longer than 160 characters is split and billed as several SMS, and that MMS works only with US and Canadian Twilio numbers.
Tax. Prices exclude tax. ManyChat's Help Center says US customers may see sales tax set by their billing address.
A worked example (fictional store)
The store below does not exist: the figures only show how the lines add up, using the rates read on November 4, 2026.
A store is on Pro with annual billing. In November, its automations and broadcasts reach 3,400 active contacts. Among them, it sends 2,000 WhatsApp marketing messages and 1,000 shipping updates (utility messages) to customers in the United Kingdom, and its replies stay within the 1,000 free service messages.
- Pro plan, annual billing: $29 for the month ($348 paid for the year)
- Overage: 3,400 active contacts minus 2,500 included = 900 additional contacts. 900 x $0.038 = $34.20
- WhatsApp marketing: 2,000 x $0.0730 = $146.00, paid from the Wallet
- WhatsApp utility: 1,000 x $0.0253 = $25.30, paid from the Wallet
- Total for the month: $29 + $34.20 + $146.00 + $25.30 = $234.50, before tax
The same month on monthly billing: $39 + (900 x $0.05 = $45.00) + $146.00 + $25.30 = $255.30.
When is the next plan cheaper? On annual billing, Business costs $40 more per month than Pro ($69 minus $29). At $0.038 per additional contact, the overage reaches $40 at 1,053 additional contacts ($40 / $0.038 = 1,052.6), so a store that regularly passes 3,553 active contacts a month pays less on Business. On monthly billing, the gap is $60 ($99 minus $39), reached at 1,200 additional contacts ($60 / $0.05), or 3,700 active contacts.
How do you check your own ManyChat cost?
- List your channels. If WhatsApp, SMS or email is one of them, start from Pro. Four channels or more means Business.
- Find your active contacts in the Insights section of the dashboard. Take your busiest month, such as November, not your average.
- Read the plan card for that number on the pricing page, with the billing toggle on the option you would choose.
- Add the overage for a month above the limit, compare with the next plan up as in the example, and set an overage threshold if you want a ceiling.
- Add message fees. Multiply your WhatsApp volume by category by the rate for each destination country in the WhatsApp pricing guide, and ask Twilio for your SMS rates.
- Add inbox seats if your team needs more than the plan includes, at $25 each.
- Check the purchase page. ManyChat says the final price, set by your billing country, is shown there before payment.
